Mitch Bonanno
Mitchell Bonanno, Senior Vice President of Development, is a development veteran with 20 years of experience in the industry. Mr. Bonanno is responsible for leading the development planning for the Company’s Crystal City and other Arlington-based endeavors, including Pentagon City land holdings. As an Arlington County Board-appointed member of the Crystal City Planning Taskforce, he actively participated in more than 90 public meetings related to the Crystal City Sector Plan.
Prior to joining Vornado/Charles E. Smith, Mr. Bonanno served as Development Executive for Clark Real Estate Advisors, an investment and development consulting firm. While at Clark, Mr. Bonanno held overall development responsibility for several projects, and led a public-private joint venture with Fairfax County to redevelop 370 acres of the former Lorton Prison site. The project included the new 386,000 square foot South County High School, a 450-unit senior housing development, and an 18-hole public golf course.
Prior to joining Clark, Mr. Bonanno held the position of Partner, Development and Construction at Crimson Partners, a local real estate development and investment company. His responsibilities included complete development, lease-up, and disposition of multiple projects, and master planning and entitlements for Dulles Station - a 64 acre mixed use project containing 1.5 million square feet of office, 1,100 residential units and 100,000 square feet of retail space.
Mr. Bonanno holds a M.S. in Real Estate from Johns Hopkins University as well as B.A and M.S. degrees in civil engineering from the University of Maryland College Park. Mr. Bonanno is a member of the Urban Land Institute, National Association of Industrial and Office Properties, Johns Hopkins University Real Estate Forum, Washington Real Estate Group, and the Board Executive Committee for the Crystal City Business Improvement District.
